Shoppex Corp was founded just a few years ago by a pair of engineers and their wives at home in Miami. “We started at the beginning with many different categories,” says Tony Hurtado, Vice President of Shoppex Corp. The company sold everything from groceries to beauty and personal care products.
Eventually, Shoppex found its niche in brand-name perfumes, and the business really started to take off. Just three months later, Shoppex had moved out of its home and into an 800 sq ft warehouse.
Early on, Shoppex’s growth was so great that they knew they needed an e-commerce solution to handle everything, but many options didn’t suit their needs.
The challenge
In addition to its online business, Shoppex has wholesale customers and sells some products in Latin America and internationally.
The previous solution did not have advanced features. Shoppex needed reporting to help them make informed decisions, customization to build the solutions they needed, and an integrated WMS (Warehouse Management System) to expand to other marketplaces, which was not possible with the initial solution they were using.
The solution
Shoppex chose Sellercloud because it was the only option that had everything they wanted. One of the key features that drew Shoppex to Sellercloud was its multichannel capability, allowing them to sell on more marketplaces. Hurtado checks Sellercloud’s reports every morning to inform his daily decisions, something they could not do before. This significantly helped with inventory management.
Shoppex is also a prominent user of Skustack, Sellercloud’s WMS, which has greatly improved efficiency. “We can grow in revenue in our business, but we can keep our labor at the same level,” said Hurtado. The workload has increased, but labor costs have remained stable, enabling Shoppex to maintain their employee levels while increasing efficiency.
Hurtado explained how Skustack equips employees to prepare a picklist seamlessly.
Usability was also vital in adopting Sellercloud. “The interface is very easy to use,” said Hurtado, reducing the learning curve for new employees.
After Sellercloud
Sellercloud has significantly assisted Shoppex in a brief period. Previously operating out of an 800 sq ft warehouse, Shoppex has expanded to a 5,000 sq ft warehouse.
“Since we started with Sellercloud, our business grew six times,” noted Hurtado, detailing the leap in revenue from $2 million to almost $12 million in one year.
Hurtado confidently believes Sellercloud will continue to support their growth, aiming for $50 million in revenue and beyond.
He also emphasized the quality of Sellercloud’s customer support, stating, “I think the Sellercloud support is one of the best that I have in my life.” He appreciates the responsiveness and extensive knowledge of the support team.
Hurtado concludes that e-commerce is the future and having a solid system like Sellercloud is crucial for success: “To succeed in e-commerce, you need better technology. You need better software like Sellercloud.”
