# FTP Connections

**FTP** stands for **File Transfer Protocol**. When no other options are available, channels are integrated using custom-made **file import and export mapping profiles**.

These profiles can support different features of the integration, such as:

- Order exports/imports
- Inventory exports/imports
- Tracking exports/imports
- Invoice exports/imports

Certain outside platforms can send and receive flat files like **CSV** or **Excel** using a shared mailbox called an **FTP** or **SFTP server**. Sellercloud can send and receive these files automatically using a **Scheduled Task** at whatever frequency you would like.
