# What is Dropshipping?

Dropshipping is when a **seller transfers customer order and shipment details to a manufacturer or Vendor** rather than stocking their own goods. This **takes away the need for picking, packing, shipping,** and **maintaining your inventory**.

When a “ **Sales Order**” comes into Sellercloud that needs to be drop shipped, a “ **Dropship PO**” will be generated and sent to the vendor with the customer’s information for them to fulfill.
